Parents and Teachers:
Isn’t it amazing how babies learn?
They are born so weak and helpless, but as they grow they learn
to recognize their parents and caregivers. Amazingly, babies learn
to crawl, stand up, to walk and to talk.
It seems babies and children learn pretty effortlessly, unlike adults.
They soak up everything they see, hear, touch, smell and taste like
I think that’s God’s miracle!
So what can we do as parents and teachers who are given such wonderful
gifts as children? What can we do to help our children to be confident,
loving, wise, strong, and discerning? The answer is that we need
to teach our children about the source of these characters we desire
for our children.
The source is God.
How can we do this?
The Bible (Deut 6:5-9) tells us how:
“love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and strength.
Memorize his laws and tell them to your children over and over again.
Talk about them all the time, whether you’re at home or walking
along the road or going to bed at night, or getting up in the morning.
Write down copies and tie them to your wrists and foreheads to help
you obey them. Write these laws on the door frames of your homes
and on your town gates.”
Parents and teachers, let us FIRST love our God with all our heart,
soul, and strength. THEN, let us do our best, everything possible,
to teach our children about the God whom we love so much!
